Like a bunch of cheerleaders at a national tournament, Boiler fans were running around our house with high spirits the weekend of October 6th. Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Brothers, and Sisters all came to visit us for Boiler Blackout... Purdue's highly anticipated game against Ohio State. And while nobody was wearing a sweater vest, Uncle Mickey (seen here) did manage to sneak in a red and white t-shirt to cheer on his beloved Buckeyes.
As any good football weekend does, ours started with a plethora of food and drinks. With three nationally televised college games before ours, we were all stuffed to the brim by the 2nd. The only way to work off the calories was with some indoor bowling, and tennis, and golf, AND boxing--on none other than the Nintendo Wii of course. For those who haven't experienced family playing video games for the first time in their life, it's a sight to behold. Loved ones were talking smack like football players on the line of scrimmage.
Of course, it's hard to forget how little smack we could talk to Ohio State fans after the actual game started. The stadium was roaring with craziness and general fanfare, the students were all wearing black and gold, and apparently Purdue didn't show up to play. So, Uncle Mickey went away happy while the rest of us slunk back to the house and packed our faces with any food left over from the pre-game festivities.
All in all though, it was a great weekend with friends and family. We're looking forward to Purdue putting up a fight next year--and also to defining a reigning champion of Wii bowling!
